Content filter check
This tool checks whether a content filter is active on your current device or network, and which categories it appears to cover. It's meant to help you confirm your filter is working as expected — it does not tell you how to get around any filter it finds, and it won't.
Before you run this check
Running this check makes a small number of requests to a handful of well-known websites (for example Wikipedia, GitHub, and a few sites representative of common filtering categories). If you're on a filtered network, these requests may appear in your filter's or network administrator's logs, the same as any other web request from your device. Only tiny icon files are requested — no page content, images, or video from those sites are ever loaded or displayed by this tool.
What isn't tested yet
- Dating: No vendor-published test endpoint found, and a real dating-site domain was judged too specific/sensitive to hardcode as a canary without a partnership arrangement (SWGfL/testfiltering.com model) or confirmed vendor test URL. Pending research.
- Adult content: Deliberately not tested with a live domain. Following the testfiltering.com (SWGfL) model, this category should be tested by requesting a filtering vendor's own inserted test page, not a real adult site. No such arrangement exists yet for the vendors this tool targets.
- Gambling: Deliberately not tested with a live domain, for the same reason as adult content — pending a vendor test endpoint or partnership arrangement.
